Bagel with Lox

A toasted everything bagel piled with cream cheese, silky cured salmon, red onion, capers, cucumber, and dill — the New York deli classic.

Ingredients

  • everything bagels2
  • cream cheese4 oz, softened
  • lox or smoked salmon4 oz
  • red onion1/4, very thinly sliced
  • Persian cucumber1, sliced into rounds
  • capers1 tbsp, drained
  • fresh dillsmall handful
  • lemon1/2
  • black pepperto taste

Steps

  1. Slice and toast bagels.

    Slice bagels in half and toast until golden and crisp on the edges.

  2. Spread cream cheese generously.

    Spread a generous layer of cream cheese over both halves.

  3. Add lox and toppings.

    Drape lox loosely over the bottom halves. Top with cucumber rounds, red onion, and capers.

  4. Finish with lemon, dill, and pepper.

    Squeeze lemon over the top, scatter dill and a few grinds of pepper. Serve open-faced or as a sandwich.
