Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs

Fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs slow-baked under foil with a brown-sugar dry rub, then glazed under the broiler with sticky barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

  • baby back ribs2 racks (about 4 lb)
  • light brown sugar1/4 cup
  • smoked paprika2 tbsp
  • kosher salt1 tbsp
  • black pepper2 tsp
  • garlic powder2 tsp
  • onion powder1 tsp
  • ground cumin1 tsp
  • cayenne1/2 tsp
  • barbecue sauce1.5 cups
  • apple cider vinegar2 tbsp

Steps

  1. Preheat oven and remove membrane.

    Preheat oven to 275°F. Pull off the silvery membrane from the back of each rack with a paper towel for grip.

  2. Make and apply dry rub.

    Combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and cayenne. Rub all over the ribs.

  3. Wrap ribs and bake.

    Wrap each rack tightly in foil and place on a sheet pan. Bake until tender and a knife slides in easily, about 2.5 hours.

  4. Whisk barbecue sauce with vinegar.

    Whisk barbecue sauce with vinegar. Unwrap ribs, brush with sauce, and broil 4 inches from heat until lacquered, about 4 minutes.

  5. Rest, slice, and serve.

    Rest 10 minutes, slice between bones, and serve with extra sauce.
