These terms set out the rules for using Hearth. Read them once; they're meant to be understandable. If anything is unclear, write to support@tryhearthapp.com and we'll explain.

Hearth Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using Hearth, you agree to these terms. If you disagree with them, don't use the app.


01The service

Hearth is a voice-first grocery and recipe app for iPhone (and, at our discretion, a web companion at https://tryhearthapp.com). It helps you create grocery lists, sync with a household, import recipes, turn recipes into shopping items, and upload recipe cover images. We provide the app as-is. Features may change, be added, or be removed at our discretion.


02Your account

  • You may use Hearth with an automatically created anonymous guest account on a single iPhone without manually signing in.
  • To start a subscription, invite someone to a household, or use the web companion, you must sign in with your Apple ID using Sign in with Apple.
  • You are responsible for what happens on your account, including content your household members add while signed in as you.
  • You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (generally 13+, 16+ in GDPR jurisdictions, 18+ in some places) and you must not be barred from receiving our services under applicable law.

03Subscriptions

Hearth is a paid app with two subscription options:

  • Hearth Monthly — $6.99 per month, no free trial.
  • Hearth Annual — $49.99 per year, with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers.

Prices are in USD and may differ in your local currency based on Apple's tiered pricing.

How billing works

  • All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and your Apple ID.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions). We cannot cancel subscriptions on your behalf.
  • Canceling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period.
  • Deleting your Hearth account or deleting the app does not cancel your Apple subscription. You must cancel through Apple if you want billing to stop.

Free trial

  • The 14-day trial on Hearth Annual is available once per Apple ID.
  • If you cancel during the trial, you retain access until the trial ends and are not charged.
  • If you do not cancel, the annual subscription auto-renews at the rate above.

Refunds

Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us. You can request a refund at https://reportaproblem.apple.com/.


04Acceptable use

Don't use Hearth to:

  • Violate any law or the rights of others.
  • Upload or import content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to use.
  • Upload photos, screenshots, recipe text, or URLs containing sensitive information you do not want processed by Hearth or our service providers.
  • Circumvent subscription gating, reverse-engineer the app beyond what's permitted by law, or attempt to access other users' data.
  • Interfere with the service, Apple's App Store, or our infrastructure providers.
  • Use automated means to scrape or exhaust our APIs.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of this section.


05Content and ownership

  • You own what you put into Hearth — your lists, items, recipes, household content, uploaded images, imported text, and source URLs. You grant us a limited license to store, process, transmit, transform, and display that content so we can provide the service to you and your household members.
  • We own Hearth itself — the app, brand, code, designs, and associated intellectual property. These terms do not transfer any of that ownership to you.
  • Household members you invite can see and edit shared lists, recipes, recipe images, and other household content. That's the point of shared households. Invite carefully.

06Third-party services

Hearth relies on third-party services — Apple, Supabase, OpenAI, RevenueCat, PostHog, Sentry, and Vercel. Your use of those services through Hearth is also subject to their terms. We don't control them and can't be liable for their outages or changes, though we will do our best to mitigate disruption.


07Disclaimers

HEARTH IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT VOICE TRANSCRIPTION, IMAGE IMPORT, RECIPE IMPORT, AI-GENERATED CONTENT, OR CATEGORY PARSING WILL BE ACCURATE.

Hearth is a convenience tool, not a medical, dietary, nutrition, allergen, or safety-critical system. Recipes, ingredients, quantities, categories, and shopping items may be incomplete or wrong. Review everything before relying on it, especially for allergies, medical regimens, food safety, or other outcomes where an error would matter.


08Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Lior Cohen AND ITS REPRESENTATIVES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF HEARTH.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF HEARTH IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places the above applies only to the extent permitted.


09Termination

  • You can stop using Hearth and delete the app at any time. To delete your account and data, email support@tryhearthapp.com. An in-app account deletion flow will be provided before Hearth is submitted for App Store production release.
  • Account deletion does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel through Apple before deleting your account if you do not want future renewals.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. On termination your subscription ceases to renew; any refund remains subject to Apple's policy.

10Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Israel, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to your local forum.


11Apple-specific terms

Hearth is distributed through the Apple App Store. You and we both acknowledge:

  • These terms are between you and Lior Cohen, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • In the event of any failure to conform to applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligations with respect to the app.
  • Lior Cohen is solely responsible for product warranties (express or implied by law and not effectively disclaimed).
  • Lior Cohen is solely responsible for addressing claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product-liability, legal-compliance, and intellectual-property claims.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you upon your acceptance.

12Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
